"Nice hotel, nothing special"
Nice hotel, spacious room, friendly personel. Bathroom had a small bubblebath, don't expect too much, you can't sit in it with two adults. Shower wasn't poperly cleaned, mold in the corners and hairs on the floor. Hard matras, of course some people prefer that... But this was so hard you bounced right of the bed.
"The beds move!"
The two beds that make up the double bed in this type of room are placed on wheels. However, the locking mechanism did not work - meaning that when you move to the middle of the bed to, I don't know, hug your partner and kiss them goodnight, the bed will respond by rolling away from underneath you. Not recommended for people who move a lot during their sleep, or you might find yourself on the floor between the two beds in the middle of the night. Luckily, that did not happen to us.

"Hotel with charme"
Nice Hotel with good location for a visit of University of Twente or the football club Twente. The Hotel with ist architecture has ist own charme. The only complaint is the double-floored room with steep staircase leading to the sleeping room.

"Excellent price for money"
Spacious room and bathroom (2 washing-bassins, bathtub and shower cabine), comfortable bed The breakfast could have been richer in terms of variety. The restaurant of the hotel serves very well presented and tasty food.

"Nice hotel, helpful staff"
Stayed here for three nights in September 2016 whilst visiting Enschede on business. Hotel was adequate and well served by public transport and cycle routes although it is a bit out of the centre of the city, it was handy for the university where I was visiting.Having bikes available for hire is a nice touch. Decent facilities in the rooms, although I'm not sure about what seems to be a Dutch thing about coffee creamer (powdered milk) as opposed to normal milk! Breakfast was a continental style, which isn't always to my taste, but there was a good choice of items. The staff in particular were helpful and assisted with printing some train tickets whilst I was there and helped out someone who spoke no Dutch so as that I had no problems getting around. Overall, the hotel made for a pleasant stay on my first visit to Enschede and indeed the Netherlands.

Hiking and cycling

The many hiking and cycle paths in the area take you along beautiful countryside, castles, historical villages and farms. Various pleasant hiking and cycle routes have been set out near the hotel. The Flamingo route through the Dutch-German border area and along the northernmost flamingo breeding colony in Europe is recommended.

Visitor centre Het Lammerinkswönner is an authentic Twente “lös hoes” (farmhouse). It is situated in the organically managed Ledeboerpark and Het Wageler country estate, with exciting natural play areas and a water investigation terrace on the Roombeek. Or visit one of the magnificent nature areas around Enschede, such as Aamsveen, Buurserzand or Lutterzand.

Hotel Staff

The first stories of the Broeierd dated back from 1831. When the Broeierd was called "d'n Tol 'and based on the highway from Enschede to Deventer which linked to Germany.

Travelers who had to wait at the toll may stop to have a snack, drink and rest in the straw of the farmhouse.

At a later stage people could cut their hair at the barber or have their beard shaved. When one of the travelers with thick, tough hair came, it couldn’t be cut off. This hair had to be burned off or as we call it in Dutch ‘gebreuid’ which was later changed to D’n Braoierd and later to De Broeierd.

In 2016 the Hampshire Hotel de Broeierd is a cozy and attractive hotel. Located on the edge of the vibrant student city Enschede. Do you want to discover Enschede? Let yourself be surprised by the many Cultural offers of Enschede and visit the various exhibitions at the Rijksmuseum Twenthe Museum or the Twense Welle. In the city center of Enschede, you will find several boutiques where you can do some shopping and of course you shouldn’t miss out of a drink at one of the many terraces of the Oude Markt, the old market.

You should know that you are ‘More than Welcome’ at Hampshire Hotel de Broeierd
